Nike Launches New Mercurial Vapor Superfly

We have photos of the new Mercurial Vapor Superfly after Nike launched the boot prior to us getitng our first glimpse of the boot in action on March 11th in the Champions League as we told you previously.

On Wednesday March 11th 2009, Inter Milan play Manchester United at Old Trafford, in their second leg Champions League round of sixteen clash. On show for the first time will be Nike’s Mercurial Vapor Superfly boots, as worn by stars of both sides.

When the Nike Mercurial Vapors were released for the first time in 2002, Thierry Henry was one of the first superstars to pounce on a boot deal with Nike to wear the model. They suited him perfectly, as they were built for speed. Shocking? It might be for some, but Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery is proudly (is he?) wearing on Nike’s new pinky Mercurial boots. The advert displays him as Pink Panther. I like the boots but not the colour. Matter of opinion maybe?

The Portuguese star currently wears Nike Mercurial Vapors IV, however he is expected to be seen wearing the new Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly boots. The boot uses new flywire technology and, interestingly, does not come with a lace over. This has been a regular on Vapors in the past however it seems this revolutionary new boot will not sport one. The flywire technology is based on a sprint spike concept which was introduced at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
